What type of fire extinguisher should I put in a car?
A dry powder extinguisher is best suited to a car and is also the most affordable.

How often do fire extinguishers have to be serviced or checked?
All fire extinguishers in commercial premises must be serviced every six months. This is a requirement under the Australian Standards.

I have a fire extinguisher at home that is one of the old yellow type, is it still ok to use?
Yellow type extinguishers (B.C.F) were phased out of service in the mid 90's, due to their ozone depleting capabilities. These extinguishers must be replaced with dry powder or the equivalent. A fine exists for using a yellow B.C.F extinguisher.

Yes, All fire extinguishers are required to be pressure tested every five years from the date of manufacture
